Hi! Hi! Hiya! I’m Meghan Hug (the staff member formerly known as the Queen of the Tall Tall Tower as well as Maintenance Meg). I am a 5th grade teacher at St. Theresa in Des Moines. I’ve been involved with CYC for 18 years now and cannot wait to spend my summer cooking up lots of delicious camp meals.. unless lunch is cancelled due to lack of hustle. *Can you name that movie?* My favorite camp meal to make is grilled cheese and tater tots while my favorite camp meal to eat is hot dogs. My favorite camp activity is the Talent Show! I love that we at CYC have created such a welcoming environment that campers feel safe and confident to share their gifts and talents with us! A close second is Half Christmas. With so many summers spent at CYC, one of my favorite parts about being Catholic is getting to watch the next generation of Catholics finding and growing in their faith and getting to share that experience with them. Looking forward to another amazing summer and remember: DONT PUT TWINKIES ON YOUR PIZZA.
Monday Dinner : Chicken Tenders, Mac n'Cheese, Green Beans, Cake, Salad Bar
Tuesday Breakfast : Scrambled Eggs, Biscuits and Jelly (Jr. High/High School will have sausage gravy), Milk, Orange Juice, Cereal Bar, FruitWe no longer have any ingredients or food containing peanuts, and will use a peanut free alternative in it's absence. Sunbutter is a peanut butter alternative that we use at camp for those who sometimes would prefer a sandwich over the other meal offerings that we have.
**Being peanut aware, there is however the possibility that food purchased for camp could be packaged or made in a space that does contain peanuts.**
We serve young people who deal with all different types of intolerances or allergies. While we do our best to accommodate dietary needs, we highly encourage that you take a look at our menu and plan accordingly. We also recommend that parents bring supplemental food for their camper if need be. Please don't hesitate to call us with any questions or concerns. 515-309-1936.
Here you'll find a list of candy that we often keep stocked in our canteen throughout the summer.
We do not have candy with peanuts/nuts in them, though some candy is processed in the same plants as candy with peanuts.
