Born and raised in Illinois, Carson Gregory had never been to St. Thomas More Center prior to joining Summer Staff in 2021, but he would return for four consecutive summers at Catholic Youth Camp. Carson served as a lifeguard and high adventure staff, first aid staff, and kitchen manager at CYC. Having graduated from the University of Iowa in 2024 with a degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Philosophy, Carson was deeply involved with campus ministry at both Loras College and the University of Iowa. He was part of various programs and committees, notably planning multiple retreats and events for college students. He was also involved with youth ministry programs and education as a childcare provider. In his senior year at Iowa, he wrote and published a book–Suffering with the Savior, Sorrow with the Saints: A Catholic Exploration of Mental Health. He is currently enrolled as a Master’s student studying Mental Health Counseling at Grand View University. As Camp Director, Carson will be focused on the evangelization and formation of CYC campers, counselors, and staff. Throughout his time at CYC, Carson’s favorite memories include seeing the growth of returning campers and counselors, candlelit Masses, and weekly soccer showdowns. Experiencing the fruits of St. Thomas More Center’s mission, charism, and community firsthand, he is overjoyed to continue the important work of uniting our Catholic faith and fun to serve young people as they become joyfilled missionary disciples of Christ.
