Born and raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Elizabeth Otto was first introduced to CYC when she went along to drop off her older sister at camp. Elizabeth followed suit when she was old enough to camp at CYC. She was a camper throughout elementary school then returned to Catholic Youth Camp in 2021 as a counselor. Elizabeth counseled for two years before becoming a staff member. She loved experiencing the joy of camp alongside her campers as Cabin Staff for two years. Elizabeth has thoroughly enjoyed her experience at camp and wanted to continue her time there. This summer she is stepping into the role of Summer Program Director!
When she is not at camp, Elizabeth works at Early Head Start in Tennessee and is very involved in her church. She is the head of the Care for Creation Team (a committee which implements Church-wide Laudato Si action plans), a CCD teacher, and an organizer for university student faith events. She enjoys seeing the campers conquer challenging activities at camp, especially crate stacker and high ropes. Her favorite memories from camp include seeing campers from past years, daily Mass, and the Talent Show! Elizabeth is very excited to step into the Summer Program Director role and serve the youth for another summer at camp!
